Kindy Uplift | Queensland

Kindy Uplift professional development that begins with the educator

Kindy Uplift is designed to build teacher and educator capability and strengthen outcomes for children participating in Queensland kindergarten programs.

At The Educators Well, our approach begins underneath the practice, with the educator.

The Depths of the WELL is a 12-month whole-service educator development and implementation journey designed to strengthen wellbeing, self-awareness, reflective capacity, professional learning and the conditions that help learning move into everyday practice.

Your service identifies its priorities. Your educators tell us where they are. The Depths builds the journey between the two.

Kindy Uplift 2026

What is Kindy Uplift?

Kindy Uplift is a Queensland Government initiative that provides eligible kindergarten services with funding to build teacher and educator capability, support inclusion and strengthen children’s learning and development. Funding can be used for eligible professional development, programs, resources and supports.

For 2026, eligibility and use of funding remain matters for the service under Queensland Government requirements. Confirm your eligibility, planning and proposed expenditure with your Kindy Uplift advisory support organisation and current Department of Education guidance.

Queensland Government Kindy Uplift information

The six Kindy Uplift priority areas

Services identify their priority area or areas through their own data-informed Kindy Uplift planning. The Educators Well does not select or assess a service’s priority.

  1. 01

Culturally safe, inclusive and responsive kindergarten programs

Embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, equity and access.

  2. 02

    Social and emotional learning

Supporting identity, relationships, emotional awareness and connection.

  3. 03

    Physicality

Supporting movement, physical confidence, wellbeing and engagement.

  4. 04

    Executive function

Strengthening attention, flexibility, working memory and self-regulation.

  5. 05

    Language and literacy

Building communication, language, meaning-making and early literacy.

  6. 06

    Mathematics and numeracy

Growing curiosity, confidence, patterns and mathematical thinking.

An educator-first lens

The priority may be about children. The development still involves the educator.

The Depths of the WELL does not replace a service’s Kindy Uplift planning. Once a service has identified its priority, we explore the educator knowledge, confidence, wellbeing, reflection and professional practice underneath it.

Culturally safe, inclusive and responsive practice

How do my identity, experiences, assumptions and knowledge influence the way I show up?

We explore self-awareness, belonging, cultural humility, inclusion, recognising what we do not know, willingness to listen and learn, and whose perspectives are noticed or overlooked.

Cultural knowledge and the embedding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives require appropriate cultural expertise and relationships. The Educators Well does not position itself as a cultural authority.

Social and emotional learning

What happens within me when emotions, relationships and behaviour become challenging?

We explore educator regulation, emotional awareness, triggers, responses, boundaries, empathy, connection and assumptions about behaviour. Before asking how an educator can support a child’s regulation, we create space for the educator to explore their own regulation and capacity to remain present.

Physicality

How connected am I to my own body, energy, comfort with movement and perception of risk?

We explore energy, fatigue, sensory needs, movement, body awareness, attitudes to physical play, risk tolerance and how educator comfort can influence practice.

Executive function

How do I manage my own attention, organisation, flexibility and responses when things do not go to plan?

We explore cognitive load, overwhelm, planning, transitions, working memory, flexibility, attention, competing demands and recognising when capacity is stretched.

Language and literacy

How does the way I communicate influence the relationships and learning around me?

We explore listening, pausing, questioning, tone, assumptions, communication habits, confidence, curiosity, giving others space and whose voices are heard.

Mathematics and numeracy

What beliefs and confidence do I bring to mathematics, and how do they influence what I notice?

We explore confidence, curiosity, beliefs such as ‘I’m not a maths person’, noticing patterns, relationships and problem-solving, fear of wrong answers and willingness to explore.

From priority to implementation

Plan

Evaluate

The service remains responsible for its Kindy Uplift planning, identified priorities, QIP and service documentation, expenditure decisions and evaluation requirements. The Depths can sit alongside that work by providing a structured educator development and implementation journey.

  1. 1The service identifies its priority.
  2. 2Educators begin with private reflection and The WELL Framework.
  3. 3De-identified collective themes help shape the service learning journey.
  4. 4Monthly Deep Dives move learning into practice.
  5. 5Ripple Leaders facilitate reflection, professional conversations and shared learning.
  6. 6Whole-service professional development supports priority areas.
  7. 7Beginning-to-end collective reflection helps the service see themes in educator growth and identify questions to take forward.

The Depths of the WELL

More than a one-off professional development session

The WELL Framework develops the individual.

The Depths of the WELL takes that individual growth deeper into practice.

Ripple Leadership helps that growth spread.

The Depths is a personalised 12-month whole-service educator development and implementation journey. No package pricing is shown here because the journey is shaped around your service.

  • The WELL Framework for participating educators
  • Private educator reflection
  • An initial de-identified Service Reflection Snapshot
  • A personalised 12-month learning journey
  • Eight online Deep Dives
  • Ripple Leaders embedded within the team
  • Whole-service professional development
  • Service Portal and professional development records
  • End-of-year reflection and a Beginning to End collective snapshot

Your educators have their space. Your service has its space.

Educators own their individual account and private reflections. Services do not receive educator journals, check-ins, lesson responses or private written reflections.

Where an educator chooses to share WELL progress, the service sees only the permitted overall completion information. The service receives de-identified collective insights designed to support learning and implementation, not individual assessment.

How Kindy Uplift planning fits

Queensland’s Kindy Uplift planning is an annual cycle involving collecting and analysing data, planning and implementation, and evaluation and critical reflection. Services identify priorities through that process and work with their advisory support organisation.

After priorities are identified, The Depths can support educator capability, professional learning and implementation. It does not replace advisory support or the service’s planning responsibilities.

Important Kindy Uplift information

Clear roles and responsibilities

The Educators Well is an independent provider. The Queensland Department of Education does not maintain an approved or preferred list of Kindy Uplift professional learning and practice support suppliers and does not endorse individual providers.

Participating services remain responsible for determining their Kindy Uplift priorities, checking eligibility and allowable expenditure, completing required planning and documentation, conducting supplier due diligence, and working with their Kindy Uplift advisory support organisation.

The Depths of the WELL is educator development and implementation support. It is not government approval, funding advice, a QIP audit, compliance consultancy or a guarantee that expenditure will be accepted under Kindy Uplift.
