Meet Rachel
Hi, I’m Rachel Smith
Educator, author, mentor and advocate.
Someone who understands the realities of everyday life in education and care, because I’ve lived it for over two decades.

Rachel Smith is the founder of The Educators Well, an educator mentor, qualified Trainer and Assessor, wellbeing advocate, writer and speaker based in South East Queensland, Australia. With almost 20 years of experience across Family Day Care, In-Home Care and early childhood education, Rachel supports educators to build sustainable, fulfilling careers while protecting their wellbeing.
Rachel originally established The Educators Well to support educators who were experiencing isolation, workplace pressure and a loss of connection with themselves outside their work. After sustaining a workplace head injury in October 2024 and developing Post-Concussion Syndrome, she rebuilt and expanded the platform with an even stronger focus on wellbeing, accessibility, inclusion, recovery and sustainable professional practice.
Her current work includes educator mentoring, nationally recognised first aid training, professional development, practical resource development, writing, speaking and building supportive communities for educators. Nationally recognised training is delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.
My story
From educator to advocate, this work chose me.
I often say I didn’t choose this work, it chose me.
If you’d told me more than 20 years ago where this journey would lead, I don’t think I would have believed you. I wanted to become a teacher. I loved working with children. I never realised just how many different paths this work could open.
Over the years, I’ve worked across Family Day Care, Long Day Care, In-Home Care, nannying, community services and schools.
I’ve experienced the joy, the challenges, the paperwork, the long days, the self-doubt, and the incredible feeling of knowing that what you do can make a real difference in the lives of children and families.
The Educators Well grew from that experience.
It comes from passion, reflection, connection and understanding how powerful the right support can be.

My faith is an important part of who I am and continues to guide both my personal and professional journey.
In April 2020, my husband and I welcomed our daughter, Addy, and began a whole new chapter as a family.
Then in 2024, everything changed again.
An unexpected workplace injury left me living with post-concussion syndrome and forced me to rethink almost everything I knew about work, capacity, wellbeing and recovery.
Recovery has been one of the biggest things I have ever done.
It has also been one of my greatest teachers.
It has taught me about capacity, resilience, patience, accessibility and the importance of asking for help.
I know what it feels like to be insufficiently supported.
And I know how powerful it can be when someone walks alongside you, believes in you and reminds you that growth is still possible.
That experience strengthened something I had already believed for a long time:
“We need to care about the people doing the caring.”
Today, my work is focused on helping educators feel supported, valued, confident and capable of building sustainable careers they love.
Through The Educators Well, I bring together professional development, mentoring, wellbeing support, accredited training and The WELL Framework to help educators better understand themselves, recognise what they bring, strengthen their professional practice and make informed decisions about what comes next.
Faith as a Foundation
My faith continues to guide this work and reminds me of the importance of supporting those who spend their days supporting others.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
The heart behind The Educators Well
At the centre of everything I do is a simple belief:
“The person behind the educator matters.”
Educators deserve opportunities to learn, grow and lead.
They deserve support that recognises their wellbeing, capacity and individual circumstances.
And they deserve communities where they feel seen, valued and connected.
That’s what I’m building through The Educators Well.
And I’m really glad you’re here.

Rachel
